Three
Course Theatre (Guisborough Theatre Club on the move) went 'on the
road' with this production at the two local hotels. Both venues provided a Greek themed menu and the play was performed between courses. The entertainment opened and closed with appropriate 'Grecian' dancers (provided by J9 Dance) and live music by New Steel. There was also an 'open rehearsal', between the two performances, at St Nicholas Church Hall, when club members and guests were invited to witness the play being reset for the different layout that the actors were to encounter at Rushpool Hall. The cast, dancers and musicians are to be commended for their ability to adapt to each of the venues, especially at Rushpool Hall, where space was limited, leading to a very cosy and intimate acting space. The production team are to be congratulated on successfully providing all the facilities required at the three venues, including transporting and erecting the set and lighting rig. It was a real tour-de-force in team work. The play, set on a hot afternoon in ancient Greece, about 2,300 years ago, centres around a scientific experiment being conducted by two philosophers involving an ass, and the implications of the outcome of the experiment on various members of the younger generation. |
